Welcome to the Tulsa Pistol Range

50 Yard Pistol Range - Tulsa Gun Club
One of the fastest growing areas of the club is the Pistol Range. With the growth of the conceled weapons classes and the general interest in shooting the pistol range is a very active part of the club. The range is open for pistol and rifle shooters.
The range is equipped with an overhead shelter and benches. There is also additional bench seating behind the firing lines for spectators. There is plenty of space for each shooter to place and retrive equipment during thier shooting experience.
The range is equipped for 25 and 50 yard shooting. Shooting areas are divided off to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
To ensure that our range is the safest in the Tulsa Metro area and to preserve club property the Tulsa Gun Club has made some changes at the Pistol Range to. We would like to give you some background information on why this change is necessary, and how it will work. This program is similar to those used at many pistol ranges and gun clubs. Many of the new policies are range safety standards recommended by the NRA.
In order to make sure that we maintain and continue our safety record on the pistol range, the Tulsa Gun Club Board of Directors has incorporated all the safety rules into a document outlining safe practices on the range. Click here for Pistol Safety Rules tgc-pistol-saftey-rules-rev1 To be sure that everyone understands the practices, it will be necessary for each pistol shooter to attend a short briefing on them. The briefings started in the middle of June. Details and dates for new members can be found in Pistol News on the website.
After you have attended a briefing, you will be given a card with your name that will notify the Pistol Range Safety Officers that you have been made aware of the safety rules. Effective August 10, 2008, any person wishing to use the pistol range at any time it is open must display this card to the Range Officer before they will be allowed to use the range. Keep this card displayed on your outer garment any time you use the pistol range.
We understand some of you are long time Tulsa Gun Club members and always practice safety and respect club property. However, we have many new members and many novice shooters who may not have been made aware of safety requirements at Tulsa Gun Club. The only way to make this practice fair and equitable to everyone is to require that all pistol shooters attend the briefing.
We hope you will understand our emphasis on safety – your safety – and club property and see this practice as one that will benefit everyone. If you have any questions about this, please click here to contatct a rangemaster or xxxxxxxx for Rich Pounds our TGC Manager. Thank you again for your cooperation and participation in this very important program.

NOTE TO PISTOL SHOOTERS: You may have noticed safety range volunteers in an orange vest at the range. Please be aware that we have many, many new, novice shooters at the pistol range, and we welcome them. However, safety is our main concern and this volunteer will observe the activities at the range and ask anyone not following good safety practices to correct them. The safety volunteers are polite and courteous. A part of their job is to correct and change bad habits. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Next Range Safety Class will be Sunday, September 21 at 2:00 pm. If you are a new member, remember you must attend this meeting before you can use the pistol range. Classes will be offered on a monthly basis.
Rapid Fire – Once you have attended the Range Safety Class and received your Range Card, rapid fire will be permitted. Please practice safe muzzle control
Any questions should be directed to Dan Detmer 627-2006 or Rich Pounds 272-0262.
