Get Ready For Dove Season

Are your shotgun skills a little rusty after a long summer of neglect? Are you in need of a little practice before you take to the field for the traditional opening of the hunting season September 1^st?

If so, the Tulsa Gun Club may have a solution to your problem.

To help in refining those wing shooting skills and promote the sport of clay target shooting, the Tulsa Gun Club is holding “Get Ready for Dove Days” for the weekends of August 20, 21, & 22 and August 27, 28, & 29. Just bring your shotgun and shells for these six days of shotgun practice and you can sharpen your skills on both the skeet and trap fields for membership prices without having to sign up as a member.

The Tulsa Gun Club is located about ½ mile west of Mingo on 56^th Street North. Just check in with the club manager and you can shoot as much skeet or trap as you wish at the cost of $3.00 for 25 targets. Please bring your eye and ear protection when shooting and limit your shot size to 7-1/2 or smaller.

If you would like some shotgun instruction, or are new to shooting, you can also call the club at 272-0262 and make plans to meet any of several certified instructors at the club. Shotguns are also available with advance notice.

So, instead of waiting on cooler weather and hoping the cost of dove hunting isn’t more expensive than eating a lobster dinner, make plans to get in some practice before those little gray rockets begin their annual migration through Oklahoma.

New Building Fund – Advertising Opportunity

Attention Tulsa Gun Club Members – New Club House Fundraiser!
Tulsa Gun Club will be hosting the 2010 Oklahoma State Skeet Championships
This event will begin Friday September 3rd with the Doubles Event, Saturday September 4th will be 12 and 20 gauge, and finally Sunday September 5th will be 28 and .410 events.
This is an excellent opportunity to display our hospitality to the OSSA (Oklahoma State Skeet Association) and to Oklahoma shooters. Not to mention several out of state shooters.

As part of this opportunity, Tulsa Gun Club will be printing and mailing a 2010 Oklahoma State Shoot program. TGC is now offering members a chance to place an ad in this program. The program will be mailed to approximately 500 shooters.
Prices for ads are the following:
1/4 Page (5 1/2″ X 2 1/2″) – $30
1/2 Page (5 1/2″ X 4 1/2″) – $60
Whole Page (5 1/2″ X 8 1/2″) – $100
Net proceeds of all ad sales go to fund our new clubhouse!

Owasso teen’s sights on Olympics

SCOTT MOODY’S goal was to find an activity that would allow him to spend quality time with his daughter. Now his daughter Riley’s goal is an Olympic appearance.

Riley Moody, 16, a student at Owasso schools, is one of 19 junior trap and skeet shooters selected to the 2010 Shotgun Junior Olympic team. USA Shooting’s national shotgun coach selects team members based on individual performances, potential, volunteer activities and academic performance, according to a release from USA shooting.

Winter Skeet League – 2010

The 2010 Winter Skeet League has been announced.

This is a 10 week league, beginning January 2nd and 3rd., 2010

The Scholastic Clay Target Program

The Scholastic Clay Target Program will begin regularly scheduled practices at 10:00 a.m. on October 3^rd at the club. Kids from 9-19 that are interested in learning to shoot the clay target sports should plan to attend a brief safety orientation on that day. Parents will be given information on the SCTP program, the Tulsa Gun Club, and some of the cost and benefits of the program.

If you need a shotgun, we can provide one for you.

Please bring your own shooting glasses and ear protection so you can use the range.
